Tips on
preparing for an Interview
-
Receiving an Interview Call is usually a
pre-amble indicating that you possess the pre-requisites for the
said job vacancy.
-
Interviewers in any company are normal human
beings who have excelled in the art of choosing good candidates
for a job vacancy hence you are required to know how to handle the
interviewer and the questions he/she poses apart from the answers
he/she expects. It would put you in good
advantage to prepare for an interview before hand.
-
It would be wise to
do some basic research about the organization you are about to
visit for an interview. You can either use the internet or the
yellow pages to dig out information on the target company.
Information like ‘About Us’, Products/Services provided by the
target company, management team & their background, etc. You can
score a few extra points by mildly mentioning these in the
interview.
-
It would be very
helpful to thoroughly know and understand the Job Description,
what it means to you, what it means to the company and why you are
the best bet for the interviewer. Remember Confidence matters!
-
During the
interview, you could stress on why you would be the best bet for
the opening in a subtle way.
-
Always think of an
interview as a formal mutual interaction in which both parties are
trying to find out as much as possible about the other. Do not
stay at the receiving end, about half way or after a while start
asking questions about the company, it’s Vision, it’s Mission, and
what they are looking for in a potential candidate. This projects
you as a self-confident individual apart from finding out who they
are. Remember Professionalism counts!
-
Last but not the
least Attitude is everything – Be positive, never be
over-confident, be ready to learn each moment from successful
interviews and more importantly from unsuccessful interviews.
After a failure ask yourself – What was the single most important
reason why I failed today? And identify the issue and resolve it
the next time. Remember there's always a next time!
-
After all, an
interview is a simple Question and Answer discussion where you
need to have an answer for every question thrown at you.
Take Care to:
-
Always be on time for an interview - Leave
Early and Reach Early.
-
Maintain utmost Neatness & Cleanliness.
-
Maintain Eye Contact with the person asking
the question.
-
Sit in a formal and erect position.
-
Wear formal clothes to an interview.
-

Always
carry the following to an interview:
-
A hard copy (print
outs) of your CV.
-
Most recent
photograph.
-
Originals or copies
of all certificates and testimonials.
-
Lots and lots of Confidence and Courage to
